The Napa County Board of Supervisors has scheduled three days of hearings on the appeal, plus an additional public commentary opportunity after their tentative decision is announced.

  • Friday, November 18
  • Tuesday, November 22
  • Tuesday, December 6
  • Thursday, December 20

The first appeal hearing is November 18 at 9:00 am. This is the day set aside for the Appellants who have filed Appeals against the Walt Ranch project decision to present their oral opening arguments. Four appellants have filed an Appeal of the Reduce Intensity Alternative approved by Director Morrison of Napa County Planning Department. The appellants are: A joint appeal filed by the Circle Oaks Homes Association and the Circle Oaks County Water District; the Sierra Club; Living Rivers Council; and the Center for Biological Diversity.

On November 22, the Applicant (Walt) will be giving their presentation. Any left over public comment not completed on 11/18 will be finished on that day. Rebuttal arguments to Applicant’s presentation are also due that day, unless Appellants provide their rebuttal by written comment which would be due by close of business on the following Monday.

Anyone wishing to use a Powerpoint presentation in their public comments needs to turn over the Powerpoint on a Flash drive or CD to Clerk of the Board of Supervisors by close of business on November 16.

On December 6, the BOS will give its tentative decision.

On December 20, there will be an opportunity for public comment on the tentative decision announced on December 6, and then the BOS will adopt its final decision.

Please plan to attend one or more of the hearings at the county offices in downtown Napa. Our county officials need to hear how their decisions on our environmental concerns affect us. We are their constituents.

A formal appeal was filed on September 1, 2016 with the Napa County Board of Supervisors challenging the approval of the Walt Ranch Vineyard Conversion Project. Critical issues were ignored by the county and are addressed in this appeal.
